Operating after Suspension or Revocation of License

Marshall T. Dean, 56, of Brattleboro, VT

On 07/30/2017 Brattleboro Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Frost Street for a violation witnessed on Main Street. Brattleboro Police met with the operator who identified himself as Marshall T. Dean. It was discovered that Dean was suspended for life in the State of Vermont for prior motor vehicle convictions. Dean was placed under arrest and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department where he processed. Dean was issued a citation to appear in court on 09/12/2017.

DRIVING WHILE CRIMINALLY SUSPENDED

Mark Lavalley, 46 of Brattleboro

On 07/29/17, the Brattleboro Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a motor vehicle infraction. The operator of the vehicle, Mark Lavalley, made an attempt to elude. Lavalley pulled into a parking lot on Western Ave. Officers made contact with Lavalley and he was found to have a Criminally Suspended Driver's License. Lavalley was arrested and transported to Brattleboro police department where he was fingerprinted and photographed. Lavalley was issued a citation for Driving while Criminally Suspended and released. He will answer to the charge on 09/12/17 at the Windham County Superior Court, Criminal Division

RETAIL THEFT

Robinson Grumeza, 37 of Brattleboro

On 07/27/2017 Brattleboro Police responded to a business on Putney Road for a theft complaint. Brattleboro Police met with employees of the business and were advised that Robinson Grumeza had stolen a bottle of Advil. Grumeza had removed the merchandise from the shelves and left the store without paying for it. Grumeza was issued a Trespass Warning for the business and issued a citation to appear in court on 09/12/2017 to answer to the charge of Retail Theft.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Mark Caslin, 29 of Brattleboro

On 7/26/17 at approximately 1730 hours the Brattleboro Police responded to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for a report of a disorderly male. Hospital staff reported Mark Caslin, 29 of Brattleboro had become belligerent while waiting to be treated. Caslin was later located and issued a trespass for the facility and a citation to appear at the Windham Superior Court on 9/12/17 at 0800 hours to answer to the charge of Disorderly conduct.

POSSESSION OF CRACK COCAINE AND HEROIN

Laura Moore, 47 of Brattleboro

Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle and made contact with the occupants. The passenger, Laura Moore, 47, of Brattleboro. was found to be in the possession of Crack Cocaine and Heroin. She was issued a Citation and is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court to answer to the charges on 9/12/2017.

David Stafford. 36 Year Old Male from Brattleboro.

On 8/1/17 Brattleboro Police assisted Windhall Police in locating and arresting David Stafford. Stafford had violated his conditions of release set on 8/1/17 stemming from a domestic assault that occurred 8/1/17. Stafford was located at his residence on Western Ave. Stafford was placed under arrest, transported to BPD, and released on a citation. Stafford will appear in court on 8/1/17 at 1230 hours to answer his charge.

Operating with a criminally suspended license

William D. McNary - 21 - Brattleboro

On July 28, 2017 while conduct traffic enforcement on Guilford Street Brattleboro Police stopped William D. McNary for speed. During the stop police found McNary's license to operate a motor vehicle was criminally suspended in the State of Vermont. McNary was released on a citation to appear in court on September 12, 2017.

Corey Betit, 27, of Brattleboro

On July 22 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a business on Canal St. for a suspicious complaint. While on scene a red Subaru fled from the officers. The operator, Corey Betit, was later located at another business on Putney Rd. Betit attempted to hide from officers and repeatedly lied about his identity when he was discovered. Once Betit was identified it was discovered that he had an active warrant, and was in contact with a woman that he had court-ordered conditions of release not to contact. Betit was arrested, and charged with Violation of Conditions, Violation of Abuse Prevention Order, False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities, Attempting to Elude, and Grossly Negligent Operation. Betit will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on August 1 to face the charge.

Disorderly Conduct

Quadir Murray, 34, of Brattleboro

On July 18 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were given a report about a man blocking traffic on South Main St., and screaming at and threatening motorists. The man was later identified as Quadir Murray. Murray was located and issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on September 12 to face the charge.

Phyllis Parent, 28, of Brattleboro

George Gravatt, 29, of Brattleboro

On July 18 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to the Brattleboro Transportation Center for a loitering complaint. Upon arrival the officers met with Phyllis Parent and George Gravatt, who were asleep on the wheelchair ramp. Parent and Gravatt had active conditions of release not to contact one another, and had been issued No Trespass Warnings for the Transportation Center. Gravatt and Parent were arrested and charged with Contempt of Court and Unlawful Trespass, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on August 29 to face the charge

Denise Madeja, 43, of Brattleboro

On July 17 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to the Preston Lot for a reported fight. Officers located the individuals involved in the fight, Denise Madeja and another male, and determined that Madeja had violated her conditions of release by having contact with the male. Madeja was arrested and held on an outstanding warrant. Madeja was charged with Contempt of Court, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on July 18 to face the charge.

Possession of Heroin

Alexander Freeman, 42, of Brattleboro

On July 14 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were on patrol on Elliot St. when they noticed a Alexander Freeman giving himself an injection in his vehicle. Subsequent investigation revealed that Freeman was injecting heroin. Freeman was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on August 8 to face the charge.

Violation of Conditions

Corey Whidden, 26, of Brattleboro

On July 14 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were on patrol on Canal St. when they noticed Corey Whidden walking in the area. Whidden had a 24 hour curfew in his residence, ordered via conditions of release. Whidden was also intoxicated, in violation of his conditions of release. Whidden was issued a citation for Violation of Conditions and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on July 18 to face the charge.

Retail Theft

Holly Rhodes, 28, of Brattleboro

On July 10 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a business on Main St. for a reported theft. Subsequent investigation revealed that Holly Rhodes had broken into a display case and stole approximately $160 worth of merchandise from the business. Rhodes was issued a citation for Retail Theft, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on August 22 to face the charge.

Criminal DLS

Jonathan McAuliffe, 36, of Brattleboro

On July 10 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to Pleasant Valley Rd. for a single car accident. A passerby, who helped pull the car back onto the road, was concerned that the driver was intoxicated. Officers located Jonathan McAuliffe and one other person in the area, and investigation showed that McAuliffe had been the operator. McAuliffe was given field sobriety tests but was not intoxicated. McAuliffe's privillage to operate a motor vehicle was criminally suspended, and he was issued a citation for Criminal DLS, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on August 15 to face the charge.

Disorderly Conduct, Domestic Assault, Arrest on Warrant

Noah Gillard, 28, of Brattleboro

Jahquani Daley, 19, of Brattleboro

On July 5 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department were on patrol on Canal St. when they observed a fight taking place between Noah Gillard and Jahquani Daley. Gillard and Daley were separated and arrested for Disorderly Conduct. Subsequent investigation revealed that the fight began because Daley assaulted a woman Daley was romantically involved with, who was related to Gillard. Daley was also charged with Domestic Assault, and had an outstanding warrant. Injuries from the fight were minor, and no one was transported to the hospital. Both Gillard and Daley were released with conditions, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on August 15 and July 6, respectively, to face the charges.

Accident

Joan Marshall, 61, of Brattleboro

On July 5 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a motor vehicle versus pedestrian motor vehicle accident on Western Ave. Subsequent investigation revealed that the operator of the motor vehicle, Joan Marshall, struck a woman walking in a crosswalk. The woman who was struck was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Marshall was issued a citation for Negligent Operation, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on August 15 to face the charge.

Disorderly Conduct

Gary Palmer, 59, of Brattleboro

On June 30 2017 officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a business on Main St. for a threatening complaint. Subsequent investigation revealed that Gary Palmer had come to the business intoxicated, had pushed, yelled obscenities at and threatened employees. Palmer was later located and issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct, and will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division on September 12 to face the charge.

Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest

Qadir Murray, 34, of Brattleboro

On October 9 2016 Officers of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a business on Canal St. for a report of a fight. Subsequent investigation showed that Qadir Murray had fought with another man. Murray resisted officers' attempts to take him into custody. Murray was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. Murray will appear in Windham County Superior Court: Criminal Division at a later date to face the charges.

Domestic Assault, Trespassing, Lewd and Lascivious Conduct

Mark J. Caslin, 28, of Brattleboro, VT

On 7/30/17 Brattleboro Police were called to a residence on Canal Street for a family fight. Upon arrival, Mark Caslin told Police to arrest him. Caslin was then detained during investigation.

Investigation determined that Caslin placed a family member in a choke hold, and struck him multiple times.

Caslin had been previously trespassed from the residence for refusing to leave. Caslin was charged with unlawful trespass.

Caslin also had court ordered conditions of release. He violated two of the conditions by being charged with a crime, and by having contact with a female he was ordered not too.

Caslin was placed under arrest and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. While in custody and knowing that he was being video taped, Caslin exposed his genitals and masturbated. Caslin was subsequently charged with Lewd and Lascivious Conduct.

Caslin was cited for 7/31/17 at 1230 hours and will appear at Windham County Superior Court to answer his charges.

No parties involved required medical attention.
