On December 22, 2016, Brattleboro Police responded with Brattleboro Fire, and Rescue Inc. to Vernon Road for a three car motor vehicle crash. When police arrived they had to shut the roadway down due to the crash. During an investigation police found Michael Tracy was driving a 2005 Kia Optima, south on Vernon Road and lost control on a corner. Tracy's vehicle crossed the center line into the northbound lane hitting Elsie Lepinid-Kerber, who was driving a 2007 Subaru Impreza northbound. Behind Lepinid-Kerber, Chad Favreau was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 towing a dump trailer. Favreau saw the crash he tried to avoid it having to steer off the roadway crashing in the ditch. Both the Kia and the Subaru are expected to be totaled in the crash and once the Ford truck was pulled out it was able to be driven away. Lepinid-Kerber was transported to the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries received int he crash. Vernon Road was closed for just over an hour.
