On 10/20/2016 at approximately 1556 hours Brattleboro Police responded to Browne Court for a report of a single motor vehicle collision into a telephone pole causing a power line to fall into the roadway. Brattleboro Fire and Green Mountain Power also responded.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that a guide wire for the telephone pole was struck and broke off from the ground. No power lines were in the roadway.
Sharon E. Haskins, 60, of Guilford, VT, was operating a gray 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. Haskins maneuvered a left turn too close to the guide wire, struck the wire with her vehicle and caused the wire to snap. This area of Browne Court was restricted to one lane traffic for approximately one hour until Green Mountain Power anchored the guide wire back into the ground.
