On 12/7/15 at approximately 10:50pm the Brattleboro Police Department responded to Marlboro Rd. to a report of a single vehicle accident. The vehicle involved was a 1994 Chevy pickup truck, owned and operated by Herbert Fagans (age 56). Matthew Houle (age 30) was an occupant inside the vehicle. On arrival it was determined that the vehicle had come into contact with a patch of black ice, left the roadway striking a utility pole and traveled over a guardrail. Both occupants were transported from the scene via ambulance for non life threatening injuries. Green Mountain Power arrived and secured the power lines making the scene safe for all personnel to assess the scene. Evidence found at the scene was consistent with the accounts provided by the occupants with no signs of impairment. This portion of Marlboro Rd. was closed for approximately an hour and half until it was determined to be safe. The roadway was then opened to one lane for an hour and a half of alternating traffic until the vehicle could be removed from the scene. The Brattleboro Police would like to thank the Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue Inc for their efforts as well as Green Mountain Power.
