Snow Removal

Snow removal will be done in the downtown area tonight starting at
11:00pm. Please DO NOT park on the streets in the downtown area. Your
vehicle will be ticketed and towed if it is hampering snow removal
efforts. If you need to park your vehicle downtown tonight, please use
the Transportation Center. The Transportation Center is free of charge
from 6:00pm until 9:00am.

Criminal Contempt

Jonathan P. McAuliffe 32 y/o male from Brattleboro, VT

McAuliffe was cited to appear in court at a later date for the offense of Criminal Contempt after it was found that he had violated his court-ordered Conditions of Release.

Violation of Conditions of Release

Date of Incident: 12/26/13

Officer Currie

Jonathan MaCuliffe, 32

On 12/26/13, Officers received a report of a citizens dispute. Upon further investigation it was found that Jonathan McAuliffe was in violation of his conditions of release. McAuliffe was sequentially arrested for being in violation. McAuliffe will appear in court at a later date to face is charges. 

Assault on a Police Officer

Nicholas J. Lapedota, 33, of Brattleboro, VT

On 12/30/2013 the Brattleboro Police were assisting the Windham County Sheriff's Department with preparing a prisoner for transport.  During this incident,  the subject, Nicholas J. Lapedota, was charged with assault on a Police Officer.

Domestic Assault

Dhruva Patel, 34, of Brattleboro, VT

On 12/30/2013 Brattleboro Police responded to 515 Canal Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. After completing the investigation, Dhruva Patel, 34, of Brattleboro, VT, was arrested for domestic assault and transported to the Brattleboro Police Department. He was released on a citation to appear at the VT Superior Court to answer the charge.

Trespassing

Amy Hall, 31, of Greenfield MA

On 12/30/13 at approximately 1902 hours, Brattleboro Police responded to Hannaford Supermarket on Putney Road for a report of a person trespassing in the store.  Police located Hall, who was trespassed from the store approximately 4 hours earlier in the day, and arrested her without incident.  She was released on citation to appear in court at a later date.

Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor

Gian Ciannavei (DOB 04/31/1992)

On 12/24/2013 Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated female at an apartment on Thomas St., Brattleboro. It was determined that Gian Ciannavei, 21, had furnished alcohol to a minor.  Ciannavei was cited for the offense and ordered to appear in court at a later date. Driving Under the Influence

Joshua A. Bristol, 23 of Dummerston

On the 28th of December 2013 the Brattleboro Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Putney Road for an infraction. Upon investigation Bristol, 23 of Dummerston was found to be intoxicated and subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. He will answer for this charge at a later date.

Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct

Melanie M. Demary, 37, of Brattleboro, Vermont.

On 12/28/2013, the Brattleboro Police responded to a residence on Canal Street for a disturbance. After completing the investigation, the suspect identified as Melanie M. Demary,37, of Brattleboro VT was arrested and brought to the Brattleboro Police Department. She will appear at the Vermont Superior Court at a later date to answer the charges.

False Alarm to Emergency Services

Date of Incident: 12/29/13

Lt. Evans

Brian Moffitt, 38, of Brattleboro

On 12/28/2013 Brian Moffitt, 38, of Brattleboro, repeatedly called the police department saying that he had firearms and was going to shoot police officers. He also alleged that he had forced his way into the Brattleboro Retreat.
 
Police were able to locate Moffitt and take him into custody around 2240 hours. It was determined that he did not have any firearms, and did not force his way into the Brattleboro Retreat. He was charged with False Alarm, Resisting Arrest, and Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer. Moffitt was held in the Brattleboro Lockup until sober and released on conditions and a citation to appear in court at a later date.

Violation of Conditions of Release, and Disorderly Conduct.

Albert J. Lambert, 49 of Brattleboro

On 12/27/2013, Officers responded to Elm St. in Brattleboro for a disorderly person. Upon arrival  Officers met with Albert Lambert, upon further investigaton it was found that Lambert was also under the influence of alcohol. Lambert was subsequently arrested for violating his conditions of release and Disorderly Conduct. Lambert will appear in court at a later date to face his charges.  

Vehicle - Pedestrian Collision

Date of Incident: 12/27/13

Sgt. Carignan

On 12/27/13 at around 7:10am Brattleboro police, fire, and rescue responded to the area of 133 Canal Street for a report of a vehicle collision.  Initial investigation revealed the following.
 
Ruth T. Fleming (59) of Newfane, Vermont was driving a 2013 Subaru Impreza south on Canal Street near #133.  The vehicle drove up onto the curb and struck Joseph H. Beebe (66) of Brattleboro, Vermont, who was walking on the sidewalk at the time.  Beebe was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for treatment.  
 
The investigation into this collision is ongoing.  Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have information is asked to call Officer Ryan Washburn at 802-257-7950.

Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer

Samantha R. Seals, 24, of Brattleboro

On 12-26-13 at approximately 2247hrs, Brattleboro Officers responded to a residence on Marlboro Rd. regarding a disorderly person.  Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Samantha R. Seals, 24, for Disorderly Conduct, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest.  Seals will appear in court to face the charges at a later date.

Petit Larceny, False Information, Arrest on warrant

Casey M. Richardson, 24 year old female (homeless)

Richardson was cited for Petit Larceny and for giving false information to the police, stemming from a Larceny investigation. Richardson was also taken into custody without incident for having two active warrants for her arrest stemming from charges of possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. Richardson was lodged at the Brattleboro Police Department for lack of bail.

Wanted for Theft

Tanya L. Maskell 40 year old female from Brattleboro Vermont

On 12/23/2013, Brattleboro Police cited Maskell for Criminal Contempt after it was found that she violated her court ordered conditions of release. Maskell was cited to report in court at a later date for this offense.

DUI

Kevin G. Collins, 51, of Marlboro, VT

The Brattleboro Police responded to Marlboro Road for a report of a possible intoxicated driver.  After completing the investigation, Kevin G. Collins, 51, of Marlboro, VT, was arrested for DUI.  He was issued a citation and will appear at the VT Superior Court to answer the charge.

Petit Larceny, Vehicle Theft

Scott Brow 36

On 12/16/2013 Officers of the Brattleboro Police Department received a call for a theft from the drop in center.  Through investigation, Officers learned that Scott Brow, 36 of Brattleboro had been in possession of the stolen item.  Officers also learned that Brow had operated a vehicle that had been reported stolen.  Brow was arrested and released on a citation to appear at court at a later time and date to answer to the charges of Petit Larceny and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner's Consent.
