On 7/24/14 at around 4:30pm a Brattleboro police officer was flagged down by a citizen who told him there had been a motor vehicle collision with a rollover on Western Avenue near I-91 exit 2. At the same time, Brattleboro central dispatch received several 911 calls reporting the same. The Brattleboro police, Brattleboro fire department, and Rescue, Inc responded to the scene.
Following an investigation police determined the following. Yasmin Tayeby (26) of Brattleboro was driving west on Western Avenue. She was driving a 2014 Mini Cooper. Scott E. Whitehill (67) of Keene, NH had been driving on the I-91 south #2 off-ramp near the intersection of Western Avenue. He was driving a 2005 Toyota Prius.
Whitehall drove off the exit ramp and on to Western Avenue. He struck the passenger side of Tayeby's vehicle with the front of his vehicle as she drove by on Western Avenue. This caused Tayeby's vehicle to roll over on to its roof. All occupants were able to exit their vehicles and no injuries were reported.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Western Avenue was closed for about an hour. Whitehall was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield at a stop sign.
